Ordinances

Zoning

Zoning Ordinances detail what can and cannot be done with property and buildings in specific geographic areas of a municipality.

Comprehensive Plan

The Carnegie Comprehensive Plan is an ordinance but uniquely different from other ordinances. The link above is the old (1998) Plan. There is a forum dedicated to discussion about the upcoming new Comprehensive Plan.

Building Code Ordinance

The Carnegie Building Code Ordinance (Ordinance 2072): basically says "follow the 1993 BOCA National Building Code and Fire Prevention and Property Maintenance Codes." These codes are not available in online form, but can be ordered from the International Code Council (ICC), which superseded the Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA). However, PA now (since 2004) has a new Uniform Construction Code that, according to the state Department of Labor and Industry, Carnegie has opted to follow, and this supersedes the BOCA/ICC codes — except that the state Uniform Construction Code basically references back to many of the BOCA/ICC codes.
